OFN is the leading public policy voice for our Members and the CDFI industry. OFN advocates for policies grounded in the direct market experiences of our CDFIs. We work on behalf of and alongside our Members to help shape federal and state policy that enhance CDFIs’ efforts to leverage capital.
About Our Network
OFN’s network includes nearly 240 performance-oriented CDFIs. Our Members provide responsible, affordable lending that creates jobs, stimulates small businesses, and deliver both sound financial returns and real changes for people and communities. In 2014, OFN’s Members achieved their results with a net charge-off ratio of just 0.7%, the same or better than most FDIC-insured institutions.
Federal Policy Issues: From appropriations for the CDFI Fund, to continuing the CDFI Bond Guarantee Program (BGP), to seeking permanency for the New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC), our policy agenda is focused on ensuring access to responsible credit and capital in the communities our Members serve.
State Advocacy: CDFIs partner with the public sector at the state and local level too. Learn more from our State Legislation and Advocacy Reports.
Comment Letters: OFN regularly submits comment letters to agencies and regulators.
Policy Communications: Archive of OFN’s communications with members of Congress, agencies, and regulators.
CDFI Coverage Map: An innovative tool that provides policymakers and stakeholders a glimpse of the CDFIs that work in their communities and the national footprint of the CDFI industry. Users can view the locations where OFN Members are located and financing they provide by sector.
Advocacy Tools: OFN works to empower CDFIs—whether they are OFN Members or not—with policy one-pagers, infographics, and other materials that boost their own advocacy efforts.
Advocacy Day: For the last seven years, OFN has held an Advocacy Day in Washington, DC, where participants meet with members of Congress and their staffs, and Administration officials to share their experiences in creating access to capital in urban, rural, Native communities.
