Hey Mary Fran! Hope all is well. Equity crowdfunding (and investment crowdfunding more broadly) is a really exciting development in capital formation. As you noted, the platforms you're mentioning are more focused in the tech space. Other investment crowdfunding platforms such as my company Honeycomb Credit , are more focused on supporting Main Street small businesses, particularly in the food space. I'm happy to share my experience and answer any questions you may have! Best, Topiltzin ------------------------------ [More]

CDFI Certification (Advisory Board and Proxies for Low Income)

Hello- I'm working with a non-profit lender who is applying for CDFI certification.  We need help with two questions: 1) They are setting up an Advisory Board and would appreciate any advice on how to structure the board (e.g. how many members, term limits, etc.). If anyone could share their advisory board's charter or formation docs- that would be great. 2) They are lending to social service agencies (e.g. community centers, mental health orgs, foster youth services, etc.).  We have found guidance [More]

UPDATE: The Fed's CDFI Survey deadline has been extended to August 14 . You can submit a response here . If you'd like to preview the survey questions, the PDF questionnaire is attached, and is also available here . We know that CDFIs are dealing with many, many competing priorities right now, and that responding to a survey may fall lower on the priority list. This information really is critical to inform future policy actions -- if you have the capacity to respond, please do! ------------------------------ [More]

Hi to all 2019 NMTC Application/2020 NMTC Allocatees, In addition to manually reaching out to each winner to see if they were looking for projects for their pipeline, I thought I would post something here too as it may be more efficient.  If you are an 2020 NMTC awardee, looking for projects, have a geographic interest in Georgia, have an interest in a project that is a non-metropolitan, DDA, QCT qualifying census tract, have an interest in agriculture which structured correctly will qualify, and [More]
