This month, the retirement of longtime Senator and Appropriations Committee Chairman Thad Cochran (R-MS) resulted in a shuffling of subcommittee leadership. Senator Richard Shelby (R-AL) will serve as chair of the Senate Appropriations Committee, and Senator James Lankford (R-OK) is the new chair of the Senate Financial Services and General Government (FSGG) subcommittee, the subcommittee with jurisdiction over the CDFI Fund.

OFN is grateful to Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV) for her leadership as chair of the FSGG subcommittee, and the record-setting appropriations levels for the CDFI Fund during her tenure. We look forward to working with Senator Lankford to continue the strong bipartisan support for the CDFI Fund.

With the new Appropriations Committee leadership in place, the FY2019 appropriations cycle is now fully underway in the Senate. OFN needs the CDFI industry to make a strong push with Chairman Lankford in support of $275 million for the CDFI Fund, an increase of $25 million over the level enacted in FY 2018.
