The Maine Chapter of the CDFI Women's Network
The CDFI Women’s Network is off to a great start in 2018. So far we have had two wonderful networking or happy hour events. The CDFI Women’s Network: Maine Chapter held their first event in Augusta on January 16th where 18 women from seven CDFIs braved cold weather and were hosted by Bangor Saving Bank for an evening of sharing, support and good cheer! Rural LISC and Scalia & Company sponsored the gathering. For more information please contact: Helen Scalia and Kristin Blum.
On January 24th, the CDFI Women’s Network: Boston Chapter held its first happy hour event at Haley House—one of Boston Community Capital’s many inspiring borrowers. Haley House is a bakery café located in heart of Dudley Square that provides nutritious meals, employment opportunities and affordable housing to those in need throughout Boston. The venue was warm and welcoming, the food was amazing, and the company uplifting! For more information contact: Vicky Stein, Lina Page, and Alex Jaskula-Ranga.
So who are all these amazing women and what motivated them to get together? Well for those who may not be familiar with our history, the CDFI Women's Network (CWN) started at the OFN 2016 Conference in Atlanta as a conversation among women who want to support fellow women in our industry. Now it's growing into a national movement that seeks to connect, support and empower the great women who work at or with CDFIs.
CWN is an independent, women-led, volunteer organization dedicated to promoting the advancement of women who work for CDFIs or for organizations that support the Community Development Finance industry. CWN creates opportunities for members to connect, share, and learn from each other to foster their professional success. We seek to mentor emerging practitioners and commit to being a diverse and inclusive organization that reflects the industry and the communities and people we serve.
The Boston Chapter of the CDFI Women’s Network would like to thank CohnReznick LLP, a nationally renowned New Markets Tax Credit Advisor, for their generous support and sponsorship of our first event.
