Effective board leadership and governance help ensure a CDFI can operate to its fullest capacity. But with today’s emerging trends—such as growth in online lenders, and increased competition in the marketplace, as well as new opportunities to collaborate and access capital—CDFI board members are facing unprecedented challenges. The CDFI industry has grown in the past few decades to a $96 billion industry. As the industry grows it is critical that CDFIs address the challenges and opportunities proactively in what is arguably a rapidly changing economic environment.

OFN is committed to seeing the CDFI industry continue down this path of growth to successfully work for disinvested communities across the country. One tool that we are deploying in the effort to help CDFIs expand their piece in the market is our first-ever Executive Training for CDFI board members. We are offering this new training effort on December 7, 2016 at BBVA Compass’ offices in Los Angeles. During the day-long training you can expect to cover topics such as critical trends in the CDFI industry; challenges and opportunities of board leadership; board composition and performance; as well as fiduciary responsibility, capitalization, and sustainability.

The training will cover some of these emerging trends, as well as engage in a discussion with peers around what works and what doesn’t for a board to be high-performing.

As we enter this discussion, we will bring a real-life strategic focus into thinking about how CDFIs and boards work within a larger external environment.  The Executive Training will help you connect the dots between mission and your bottom line so that you walk away with information that is practical, and applicable.

Because of the dynamic and hands-on nature of the training, seats are very limited, so register now! The cost for participation is $595 for the first participant, and $395 of any additional members in your organization.
