On September 14, the Harlem Commonwealth Council, Inc. (HCC) Board of Directors appointed E. Hamil Douglas as president and CEO of HCC and related companies, succeeding Dr. Joseph L. Tait who will retire, after 45 years, at the end of the year.
Dr. Tait commented, “The Board and I are confident that Hamil is the right person at this time to continue to execute our mission. He is a seasoned leader with significant management experience working both locally and internationally. We are delighted to have him as our next president and CEO.”
Hamil joined HCC’s investment arm, OFN member Harlem Entrepreneurial Fund, in 2019 and has led the team with a steady hand through the COVID-19 pandemic, relying on his relationships in both the private and public sectors to assist clients during an unprecedented time. He was promoted to chief operating officer in January 2020, where he continued to demonstrate his leadership skills overseeing all aspects of HCC’s businesses, including its education programs.
