With tax reform recently passed into law and a new year upon us, 2018 will be a year of change and opportunity. The President’s fiscal year (FY) 2019 budget proposal is expected to be released the first week of February, and Congress will begin its FY19 appropriations cycle.

With so much happening in Washington D.C. during the first half of the year, the annual CDFI Coalition Institute provides an opportune time to visit your legislators and advocate for CDFIs. Registration is now open for the 2018 CDFI Coalition Institute which will be held February 28- March 1 in Washington, D.C. We encourage all CDFIs and their supporters to attend!

It is also a time of change at OFN. As we prepare to transition OFN’s headquarters to Washington, D.C. by the end of the year, OFN will not host an Advocacy Day in 2018. Instead, OFN Members and Allies are invited to attend the CDFI Coalition Institute and participate in the Hill visits included in the Institute’s agenda on the afternoon of February 28. OFN is excited to partner more closely with the CDFI Coalition to continue to increase the visibility and influence of CDFIs with policymakers and stakeholders not only on Capitol Hill but also throughout our industry.

OFN is still available to assist with scheduling congressional meetings for OFN Members and Allies attending the CDFI Institute. Once you have registered for the CDFI Coalition Institute, if you would like OFN to schedule your congressional meetings, please email Katie Havlovic at khavlovic@ofn.org with which offices you would like to visit.

Thank you for your unwavering commitment to the CDFI industry. We look forward to continuing to work with you to amplify the voice of the CDFI industry throughout the rest of this year!
