We hope you will add your voice to the #CDFIsInvest campaign to ask Congress to support full funding of the CDFI Fund at $250 million in both FY17 and FY18. It is easy to participate in this social media and advocacy campaign. You can use the campaign toolkit and catch up on the most recent social media posts @OppFinance.
Current Message to Congress: #CDFIsInvest in Your District
OFN is using social media to highlight the work of CDFIs to each member of the House and Senate Financial Services and General Government (FSGG) subcommittee’s districts/states. We are also asking our network to send a tweet and contact—via phone or email—Members of the House and Senate Appropriations Committees, as well as the Senators and Representatives of their Congressional delegation. The campaign toolkit includes how to contact your member of Congress and has suggested text and graphics for you to use.
Up Next: #CDFIsInvest in Your Borrowers
We are looking forward to highlighting the voices of CDFI borrowers in the final week of the campaign. If you are a CDFI, please use our Borrower Toolkit as you take some time in the next few days to invite your borrowers to participate. We suggest that borrowers tell their own personal stories and include “#CDFIsInvest in Me.” If you wish, you can also share your borrower stories with OFN. OFN will feature borrower stories in the campaign beginning March 1 to March 8.
How Can We Help?
If you have any questions about how to get involved or if you have any suggestions, we would be happy to arrange a call to discuss the #CDFIsInvest campaign in more detail, or you can view the presentation that touches on all the major points of the campaign, or just email Liz Lopez or Lina Page.
Let’s Use our Collective Voice
Adding your voice will amplify the campaign’s message and spread the word about the impact of CDFIs to an even broader audience. Now is the time to rally our collective voice to create unprecedented grassroots visibility for the CDFI industry that Congress cannot ignore.
Together, let’s tell Congress #CDFIsInvest in America, and that the CDFI Fund deserves full funding at $250 million in both FY17 and FY18.
