Advocate on behalf of our industry—join OFN Conference attendees on September 26 for CDFIsInvest on the Hill! As Congress works on the FY18 budget, they need to hear from constituents like you who know first-hand about CDFI's impact and why programs like the CDFI Fund should be preserved.

What is CDFIsInvest on the Hill?

On Tuesday, September 26, OFN Conference attendees will attend meetings on the Hill with members of Congress and their staff. Click here to view the agenda. Participants will be responsible for scheduling their meetings. Leading up to the event and to support your advocacy efforts, OFN will share toolkits with all the information you will need for your Hill meetings, host an on-site training, and provide materials to leave with congressional offices.

How do I sign up?

When you register for OFN Conference, be sure to select CDFIs Invest on the Hill, which is listed under the pre-conference activities. The deadline to register is Friday, August 25. If attending this event, we ask that participants (1) share with OFN their scheduled congressional meetings, (2) attend the on-site training on September 26, (3) request $250 million in funding for the CDFI Fund for FY18 during their congressional meetings (this is OFN’s Congressional ask), and (4) attend a debriefing session on September 27.

What’s next?

You will need to send your meeting requests to Hill staff by the end of August. On Wednesday, August 16, OFN will host a “How to Request a Hill Meeting” webinar. During this webinar, we will share congressional target lists, congressional staff contact information, and advocacy tips. For individuals who cannot participate on the webinar, they will have access to the recording and materials as long as they register by the deadline.

In the meanwhile, don’t forget to continue to support our #CDFIsInvest social media campaign. We encourage everyone to use the new August Recess Toolkit and tweet at your member of Congress with your custom infographic.

We hope to see you on September 26 for CDFIsInvest on the Hill!
