Feb. 28-March 1: CDFI Coalition Institute in Washington, DC—The CDFI Coalition will hold its 2017 Institute at the Capital Hilton, located at 1001 16th Street NW in Washington, D.C. CDFI Fund Director Annie Donovan has confirmed as a keynote speaker on February 28. Additionally, the Coalition has provided time for attendees to go to Capitol Hill to meet with their Members of Congress on February 28, from 2 pm to 5:30 pm. Learn more here.
March 14-16: Fundamentals of Opportunity Finance Industry in Durham, NC—This course, run by Opportunity Finance Network and the Carsey School of Public Policy at the University of New Hampshire, is designed to help new or recent entrants into the field of opportunity finance gain the knowledge they need to expand their organizations' capacity and impact. May 16-17: OFN Advocacy Day in Washington, DC—Advocacy Day 2017 will kick off on May 16 with OFN’s CDFI Congressional Awards reception from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. The reception will be held on the Hill, and attended by members of Congress, their staffs, Administration officials, and industry leaders. On Wednesday, May 17, OFN will host an advocacy training for participants at the Liaison Capitol Hill Hotel starting at 8:00am. Participants will then attend meetings on the Hill and with federal agencies from 9:30am to 6:00pm. March 23-24: Strong Foundations in Washington, DC—The Federal Reserve System Community Development Research Conference is a unique event that convenes researchers, policymakers, and practitioners across sectors to consider important issues that low- to moderate-income people and communities face. The 2017 conference will explore the interplay between the development of kids and their communities, with an understanding that “development” factors into key economic and social aspects of kids’ lives. High-quality and emerging research from multiple disciplines will be presented in a dialogue with policymakers and community practitioners who can utilize the lessons gleaned from the research. This event will spotlight research that can inform questions about key drivers to success, differences across subpopulations, scalable intervention strategies, and policy considerations. April 27-28 Starting at Home Conference in Columbus, OH—The Ohio Housing Finance Agency and the Ohio Capital Corporation for Housing are pleased to announce the 2nd Starting at Home Conference, April 27th and 28th at the Renaissance Columbus Downtown Hotel.
