The Progress Fund was featured on NPR for their work creating opportunities in former coal towns by financing small business that are creating economic growth for their communities by tapping into the opportunities presented by nature tourism. 

The story focuses in on the small town of West Newton, PA. Progress Fund has made nine loans, totaling nearly $2.5 million, to small businesses in the town which is situated alongside the Great Allegheny Passage, a bike trail that stretches 150 miles from Pennsylvania through West Virginia and into Maryland. According to the Progress Fund, the GAP trail has created a benefit of nearly $50 million annually along the route, doing its part to help revive small towns like West Newton.
