OFN Conference is only three weeks away! Taking place in our nation’s capital, there are obviously a number of sights to see while you are in town. Here is our pick of the top sites to check off your Washington, D.C. bucket list if you are staying a few extra days:

  1. Spend an afternoon at the National Mall, in addition to the Smithsonian Museums, you can visit some of the most well-known memorials in the country, including the Lincoln Memorial, the Vietnam Veterans “Wall,” and the Washington Monument.
  2. If you have time for more than a stroll, the Smithsonian has something for everyone, from art to history to space exploration, with free museums all along the National Mall.
  3. Whether you attend CDFIsInvest on the Hill or not, it’s worth checking out the U.S. Capitol and witness politics in action!
  4. Catch a play or concert at the Kennedy Center, or just explore the free performances every day on the Millennium Stage.
  5. Spend time in the National Archives and experience some real national treasures.
  6. Get just out of the city and stroll along the beautiful streets of Old Town Alexandria, founded in 1749 and former home to George Washington.
  7. Go shopping in Georgetown, a nationally designated historic district with more than 450 shop and dining options.
  8. Get tickets to the Newseum, an incredibly interactive museum that shares the history of the U.S. through the eyes of reporters.
  9. A short walk from the hotel, check out Adams Morgan, an eclectic neighborhood with a diverse and delicious dining scene.
  10. Take a hike in Rock Creek Park, a 1,700-acre city park that is home to the National Zoo, a planetarium, and Fort Stevens.
