Jane Henderson receives YWCA of Richmond’s Outstanding Women Award
Virginia Community Capital (VCC) President and CEO Jane Henderson has been named one of nine “Outstanding Women” by the YWCA of Richmond. The annual Outstanding Women Awards program honors individuals making a difference in the Greater Richmond area through “exceptional leadership, sustained dedication, and inspiring achievements.”
“Jane is a visionary, outstanding community development banker, and a passionate nonprofit leader with a true heart for economic inclusion and equality regardless of race, place or income,” says LOCUS President Teri Lovelace, who nominated Henderson for the award. LOCUS is a VCC partner focused on place-based impact investing. “Jane can think outside the traditional financing and philanthropy boxes and blend various forms of impact capital to bring revitalization, resiliency and energy back to once distressed and forgotten areas. She has both the heart and mind to use financial capital for good, creating more just and equitable economies where all can prosper.”
Henderson, being recognized by the YWCA in the area of business, has led VCC since it was established in 2006. Since then, the organization has provided more than $509 million in loan originations to projects throughout Virginia. VCC is a nonprofit Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) on a mission to create jobs, enhance quality of life, and increase access to affordable housing in the communities it serves.
