Nearly 40 years ago, 65 dedicated individuals gathered in Waltham, Massachusetts, for the inaugural OFN conference. This gathering ignited a movement for economic justice that laid the foundation for the CDFI industry.
This year, from October 21-24, thousands of CDFI practitioners, funders, investors, policymakers, and other industry stakeholders will gather for OFN40 — the 40th annual OFN Conference.
This milestone comes during a transformative year for OFN, our members, the CDFI industry, and the communities we serve. CDFIs are receiving a historic, once-in-a-generation influx of federal, climate-focused capital.
The theme for this year, Made by History. Made for this Moment, was informed by our network and woven throughout the conference agenda. This theme aims to explore the industry’s major milestones, biggest opportunities, and most pressing concerns. We will celebrate our industry’s past and leverage our history to seize our current moment together. Now is the time to invest and prepare for growth and scale.

OFN40: A Landmark Gathering
Join us for four days of plenaries, breakout sessions, networking opportunities, and more, as the industry comes together to celebrate 40 years of investing in people and places overlooked by mainstream finance. We’ll explore current opportunities and challenges and look ahead to the future of an industry driven by the fight for economic, racial, and climate justice.
- Five Plenaries: Featuring distinguished leaders from the public and private sectors, including a screening of the Oscar-nominated The Barber of Little Rock, featuring OFN member People Trust.
- 40th Anniversary Programming: Celebrate the 40th OFN Conference anniversary on October 21 with dedicated programming and reception. Come visit our immersive and interactive exhibitions in the conference public spaces.
- Breakout Sessions: Over 90 sessions across 15 tracks, including a special 40th anniversary track, informed by a record-breaking 270 proposals!
- Curated Networking Sessions: More than 20 sessions tailored by role and geography.
- CDFIs in Action Tours: Nine tours around L.A. showcasing CDFI impact on the ground.
- Deepen your Learning: Arrive early to take advantage of four training opportunities to build your skills on topics ranging from CDFI 101 to Financial Management.
- Expo: Visit the numerous exhibitors offering products and services to help CDFIs create even deeper impact.
What’s New at OFN40
To accommodate the growing number of conference attendees, we are shifting to a new agenda structure and introducing exciting additions to this year’s program. Here’s what’s changed and new:
- Programming on Monday, October 21: The conference will kick off on the evening of October 21 with special 40th anniversary programming that includes new awards to recognize leaders and organizations within our network.
- Plenaries: All plenaries will now take place in the morning or evening, instead of over lunch.
- Lunches: Lunches will be served buffet-style throughout the event venue, providing more networking opportunities
- CDFI Research Symposium: A new symposium will take place on Monday, October 21, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
