On February 19 and 20, OFN CEO and President Lisa Mensah and EVP of Membership Seth Julyan joined OFN members, allies, and other innovators from the public, private, and civil society sectors at the Vancouver Convention Center for the tenth annual Global Alliance for Banking on Values Summit hosted by local community credit union Vancity.
The two-day gathering brought leaders together from around the world to address global social, environmental, and economic challenges through collaborative problem-solving focused on innovation and values-based banking. This year’s Summit featured a “#MeToo exChange” panel where Lisa and fellow panelists shared their thoughts on gender diversity and social inclusion in the financial sector and how disparate industries can work cooperatively to bring more people into the economic ecosystem.
Led by moderator Laurie Spengler, President and CEO of Enclude, the #MeToo panel session also featured insights from keynote speaker Musimbi Kanyoro, President and CEO of Global Fund for Women, who shared stories from her work fighting for gender equality in Africa and around the world.
In addition to the Summit, Lisa and Seth visited several OFN members and allies in the Pacific Northwest, including Craft3, Impact Capital, and Northwest Access Fund. They also had the pleasure of spending time with the team at leading Native CDFI Northwest Native Development Fund (NNDF) in Washington, where they learned about the organization’s great work on the Colville and Spokane Reservations.
