Small California Coffee Business Fulfills New Contract with Help of CDFI Financing
Client: Guillermo Moran, owner of Eco Delight Coffee
Client Location: Elk Grove, CA
CDFI: TMC Community Capital
CDFI Service Area: CA
Small business financing, with support from the Finance Justice Fund
Guillermo Moran, the owner of Eco Delight Coffee, sells a wide collection of single origin coffee that comes from unique farms from around the world, including Ethiopia, Mexico, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Colombia, and many others.
Part of the company’s mission is to support coffee farmers in other countries and help them receive fairer prices for their products. Guillermo also makes sure that his company promotes fair working conditions and equitable opportunities to those who work on the coffee farms and their families.
When Guillermo tried to secure funding for a newly acquired contract, traditional funders rejected him due to lack of financial history and issues with his credit, despite having been in business for 11 years and having over half a million dollars in cash in his account. Fortunately he found TMC Community Capital through a contact at the Latino Chamber of Commerce.
TMC Community Capital assessed Guillermo’s cashflow and means, over simply credit history, and he was finally able to secure the loan he needed to pay for a large bulk order to supply his large new contract. Since receiving the financing, Guillermo has hired two new employees to support work on this new contract.
By growing his business and continuing to source large orders at reasonable rates, Guillermo’s work continues to uplifts farmers and their families and communities around the world.
