St. Ann Center for Intergenerational Care opened its newly-constructed Bucyrus Campus in Milwaukee’s north side, one of the most underserved neighborhoods in the city, in September 2015. Forward Community Investments (FCI) contributed $5 million in New Markets Tax Credit to the development of the $21 million, 80,000 square-foot facility that brings child and adult day care and services for families, caregivers and the community. The project created more than 120 jobs for local residents.
The center is dedicated to creating a new social model of community-based daycare services that promote health, well-being and independence for older adults with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia, and serve adults of all ages with physical, developmental, and mental disabilities.
The campus provides state-licensed childcare for infants and toddlers, a Head Start and Early Head Start program, after-school and summer camp programs, all providing a safe, motivational and nurturing environment. Children from the daycare join adult clients for daily activities, resulting in mutual understanding, respect and shared joy across the generations.
The Bucyrus Campus is also home to one of only three dental clinics in WI that specifically serves children and adults who have cognitive or physical disabilities. St. Ann Center provides quality care in a home-like setting that honors service, choice, compassion and dignity to people of all ages and abilities.
