CNI seeks to revitalize neighborhoods and create jobs by developing high impact projects, providing financial resources to entrepreneurs and sustaining long-term community partnerships.

Summary

Chicago Neighborhood Initiatives (CNI) is seeking an independent contractor to assist with the growing financial responsibilities of the company.  Contractor will support  the financial operations of the company, and play a key role in the monthly close process and preparation of financial statements.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the preparation and review of timely, reliable, and accurate month-end consolidated financial statements.
  • Maintenance of general ledgers, generation of monthly financial statements and supporting workpapers.
  • Prepare monthly analysis of financial results in comparison to company’s budget.
  • Proactively catch errors and research accounting discrepancies. Develop solutions and recommend improvements, as necessary.
  • Work with accounting team members to ensure accounting and loan servicing platforms agree monthly.
  • Assist with annual audits as required.
  • Other ad hoc projects and responsibilities within the team, as needed and assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, with a minimum of five years of accounting experience, preferably at least two years in a property management or real estate environment. Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient with QuickBooks.
  • Familiar with SharePoint and Smartsheet (Not Required but Preferred).
  • Knowledge of GAAP.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel.

Compensation and Benefits

  • This is a 1099 contract position. Compensation is commensurate with experience.
  • 16 hours per week minimum will be guaranteed. Weekly hours will adjust in accordance with demands of the season (e.g. during audit season from August – December, hours will increase).
