The South Carolina Community Loan Fund (SCCLF) is a statewide, nonprofit Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) certified by the U.S. Treasury and a Community Development Entity (CDE) with the mission to advance equitable access to capital to build assets and benefit communities and people most in need of economic opportunity. We provide loans and technical assistance to nonprofits, for profits, and government entities to support the development of affordable housing, community facilities, and small businesses.  SCCLF is a dynamic organization with growing team working across offices in Charleston, Columbia, and Greenville. Summary

The Community Development Loan Officer (CDLO) is responsible for growing SCCLF’s loan portfolio. The role involves meeting annual lending goals while developing a healthy and responsive loan portfolio. The CDLO will support clients through all stages of the application and underwriting process. The CDLO reports to the Chief Lending Officer.

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Lending, Technical Assistance

  • Meet assigned annual lending goals and support clients in securing SCCLF loans.
  • Guide clients through the lending process, including deal origination, application assistance, financial analyses, preliminary underwriting, and loan structuring.
  • Prepare documents for loan approval and present proposals to loan committees.
  • Provide technical assistance to clients, including financial health evaluation, financing needs assessment, credit-readiness verification, and project feasibility assessment.
  • Build relationships with banking and community partners to advance SCCLF’s mission.

Data Collection & Quality

  • Work with other SCCLF team members to effectively track lending impact against compliance requirements.
  • Ensure accurate data collection and entry into Salesforce.

Community and Business Development

  • Represent SCCLF in public forums, facilitate community outreach efforts, and build referral networks.
  • Promote increased visibility in target market.
  • Support communications team with loan closing announcements and related communications.
  • Develop strong and effective relationships with financial intermediaries and cultivate new borrowers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

KEY SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS

  • Strong credit analysis skills with attention to detail.
  • Significant external client contacts and business development skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and manage competing priorities.
  • Understanding of community development finance.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • At least three (3) years of lending and credit experience preferred.
  • Experience in community development preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, SharePoint, Outlook, Teams).
  • Willingness and ability to travel locally.
