Job Description Summary

The Controller coordinates the operations of the Loan Fund Accounting area of the Finance Department, which provides Enterprise Community Loan Fund’s accounting and finance functions. This position supervises all the loan servicing operations and prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting. The position focuses on exploring opportunities to improve operational efficiency, including additional automation. The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic, effective member of the Finance team. This position requires excellent organizational, analytical, automation, communication, and prioritization skills, and the ability to work well in a fast-paced team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise loan servicing accounting, including cash receipts and disbursements processing, month end closing, invoice preparation, and the recoverable grants reporting process.
  • Coordinate the design and administration of loans receivable programs, including initial set up, ongoing maintenance, and the preparation of various reports for internal staff and external parties. In addition, participate in the formation and creation of processes for new funds, companies and initiatives, as needed.
  • Support the maintenance of loans payable, including coordination with Capital Management as needed.
  • Serve as a resource for the loan servicing software and assist with updates, problem resolution, changes, and enhancements.
  • Prepare and post various monthly journal entries and corresponding detailed support.
  • Prepare the monthly financial reporting package, including a review of actual results for accuracy and explanations of variances to budget. The package includes financial statements, variance analyses, and supporting schedules and is distributed to internal management and staff.
  • Prepare various quarterly reports for internal management and external parties. Internal schedules are maintained to review several specific programs. External statements include Board reporting, debt covenant compliance schedules for our lenders, and several other specific formats for outside parties.
  • Participate in annual reporting, including preparation of the audited financial statements, additional specific formats for outside parties, and tax filings.
  • Drive for efficiencies throughout the Loan Fund Accounting area, embracing technology and looking for ways to automate processes and cross train employees. Maintain up to date documentation of processes and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Supervise up to 3 employees.
  • Incumbent is expected to:
  • Manage direct reports’ performance by giving sufficient performance feedback and providing timely and thorough goal setting and reviews.
  • Actively encourage development of direct report employees.
  • Set team and individual goals and communicate departmental goals so that all employees understand the overall goals of their department and the company.
  • Address performance issues constructively and in a timely fashion.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent is required, CPA is preferred.
  • 8-10 years accounting experience is preferred, some public accounting experience is a plus.
  • 2-4 years supervisory experience is required
  • Must be highly motivated, able to work independently and possess strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Must possess strong financial, analytical, organizational, and quantitative skills, and ability to coordinate complex activities, prioritize conflicting demands and meet deadlines.
  • Strong automation skills, including proficiency in Microsoft products and accounting applications, expertise in loan servicing software a plus.
  • Experience with accounting systems required, experience with Workday a plus.
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) is required.
  • Able to work effectively both independently and in team environments.

  • Ability to work evening and weekend hours during peak periods

The base salary for this role is $125,000 to $135,000, depending on level of skills and experience.

The salary range for this position is represented by the low and high end of the range for the amount to be paid for the position. Salaries paid at Enterprise will vary based on factors that may include skills, education, location, experience, and performance. The salary range is just a part of the total rewards package provided to employees at Enterprise, and other rewards may include annual performance bonuses and generous paid leave programs.
