Our team members primarily work remotely and out of physical offices across Oregon and Washington. We are looking for a Grants Development Manager to join our Craft3 team in the WA or OR Area.
Summary
As a Grants Development Manager, you’ll be responsible for developing and driving the cost-effective implementation of grants fundraising strategies that achieve and advance the overall resource development goals for Craft3. Duties include the identification of grant opportunities from diverse financial partners (foundations, government agencies, banks and other corporations), development of grant proposals, cultivation and management of grantor relationships, and reporting on deliverables of grant and investment agreements. This position will have an annual fundraising goal to support revenue generation for the company. The Grants Manager works closely with the Development Director, the Development Team, the Compliance Team, and other business unit leaders and subject matter experts across the company to maintain a diverse and stable funding base for Craft3’s work.
Responsibilities
Resource Development
• Partner with Chief Development Officer to evolve and develop grant fundraising strategies and tactics to support Craft3’s mission and strategy and capitalize existing and emerging loan products from diverse and appropriate sources (e.g., government, banks, foundations, businesses, religious organizations, and individuals.
• Supervise/oversee staff or contracted grant writer(s) to support execution of grant fundraising strategies.
• Manage annual grant fundraising commitment and contributed revenue targets of approximately $10 million annually.
• Lead the research of prospective grant funding opportunities and partner with Chief
Development Officer as needed to determine the appropriateness of grant sources and relationships.
• Organize and lead sales calls with existing and prospective grantors to maintain and increase capitalization and operating resources.
• Coordinate with Marketing to develop and package marketing and communications materials to support grant fundraising strategies.
• Lead the development and submission of grant proposals with support from Development Operations Manager, Compliance Manager, BU leads, internal subject matter experts, and staff or contracted grant writer(s).
• Lead grantor due diligence processes, including site visits, with support from Development
Operations Manager.
• Manage grant agreement review, negotiation and closing processes, with support from General Legal Counsel; for grants over $2 million, work with Corporate Secretary and General Legal Counsel to prepare and review grant resolutions for the Board of Directors.
Development Systems and Processes
• Maintain early-stage (research and cultivation) grant opportunity database in Airtable (current system) or other appropriate system of record.
• Maintain active grant cultivations in Development pipeline in Conga (current system) and upon approval/closing, provide support to Development Operations Manager, Compliance/D&R, and Finance to support award onboarding.
• Partner with Development Operations Manager in utilizing and maintaining Development SharePoint Site content, including document libraries for collaborative proposals, standard application attachments, etc.
• Partner with Development Operations Manager to maintain current grant-related policies and procedures.
• Contribute to the development of the annual Development budget and work plan, by leading the grant-related commitment and revenue targets and key grant fundraising strategies.
Funder Compliance
• Support Compliance/D&R in complying with grant agreement requirements, including
contributing to non-routine narrative reports as needed.
• Assist Compliance/D&R in the interpretation of grant agreements and advisement of grantor
priorities, engaging with General Legal Counsel as needed.
Requirements

• Experience and comfort with sales and proven track record for achieving sales goals as demonstrated by independent engagement of grantors and investors and leadership of teams to secure funds and increase revenues.
• Strong research skills combined with intellectual curiosity to identify and discern diverse funding opportunities that align with Craft3’s and prospective funders’ interests.
• Ability to analyze financial statements, and loan portfolio and impact data.
• Understanding of accounting implications of debt and grants on Craft3’s financial statements.
• Ability to read and interpret contracts and funding (grant and loan) agreements.
• Strong project management skills combining a keen attention to detail with the judgment to achieving goals in a timely and cost-effective manner.
• Excellent customer service and relationship management skills, including the demonstrated ability to steward relationships and collaborate with internal (leadership and staff) and external partners.
• Ability to develop new procedures to meet identified needs and/or to adjust to changes in procedures.
• Excellent prioritization, organizational, and time management skills to succeed in a semiautonomous, fast-paced environment.
• Effective listening and communication skills with the ability to communicate issues over the phone, in person, by video chat and email to a variety of audiences.
• Ability to successfully work with colleagues located in local and satellite offices.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Professional, file share systems, Contact Relationship Management systems.
Minimum of ten years’ experience and demonstrated success in nonprofit fundraising,
including minimum three years’ experience in a management or leadership role.
• Skilled in managing and forging relationships with a diverse portfolio of grantors/ donors.
• Talent for public speaking and making presentations.
• Fluency in nonprofit financial statements and mission-related outcomes / impacts.
• Specialized knowledge and experience in fundraising for nonprofit loan funds or CDFIs are strongly preferred.
• Supervisory experience and/or experience managing 3rd party fundraising consultants are also strongly preferred.
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for this position is $130,000 – $150,000 and is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on individual and company performance. Actual pay will depend on experience.
This position is FLSA status exempt. We offer hybrid work flexibility, and employees have access to physical offices in Seattle and Spokane, Washington, and Portland and Astoria, Oregon. Employees may take advantage of flex/alternative work schedules.
