Summary
Who we are seeking:
We are seeking a Junior Accountant to provide support for Accounting, Treasury and Finance, and the CEI staff, as well as the accounting teams for subsidiaries. This is role is a part of a two-person team that collaborates to get the job done!
You bring basic accounting knowledge and skills, and you are willing to learn even more.
You are proficient in using Microsoft Excel, Word, and Teams.
You are a team player who communicates proactively and asks questions or for help when needed.
You have experience in delivering high-quality internal and external customer service.
You have a passion for contributing to CEI’s mission of lifting businesses, individuals and the communities they live in.
Responsibilities
Some of your key responsibilities in this role will be:
You will review all invoices for appropriate documentation and approval, ensuring accurate entries into the accounting software.
You will ensure compliance with internal controls regarding accounts payables, authorizations, proper coding, and signatures on all the Request For Funds documents.
You will set up new vendors in the system, and will respond to vendors inquiries, reconcile statements, and research and correct discrepancies.
You will process all incoming and outgoing wires, ACH, and Positive Pay on the bank and run verifications in the online banking system.
You support the Senior Accountant in maintaining Notes Payable, CEI Notes, and subsidiary files.
You will prepare and post entries for banking activity, including interest, fees, deposits, and transfers.

Requirements
Preferred candidates will have:
An associate degree or equivalent professional experience in accounting.
Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Excel and Word.
Team player attributes and interpersonal skills and ability to work independently.
A detail-oriented quality, and emphasis on accuracy.

Other details:
This is a full-time 37.5-hour-per-week (or 75 hours bi-weekly) non-exempt position, eligible for Over Time with excellent benefits and generous time off. The posting range is $ 26 - $28 hourly. We work in a hybrid model, two days in the office (usually Tuesday and Thursday), and three days at home. This position is based out of our headquarters in Brunswick, ME.
