Summary

OFN is expanding our accounting team and seeks a new Senior Associate. The Senior Associate, Grant Accountant will help ensure organizational accounting compliance with federal regulations and grant requirements, including but not limited to the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund (GGRF). The Senior Associate will lead the development of grant budgets, draws, and reporting. This role assists in developing a culture of compliance throughout the organization. This position is based in Washington, D.C. All staff currently work a hybrid schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with funding source administrative guidelines, timely receipt of revenue, and accurate submission of financial reports.
  • Assist with preparation for Single Audit and internal and other external audits.
  • Assist with other general accounting activities including reconciliations, timesheet reviews, and other duties as assigned.
  • Assist in the development of grant budgets and budget modifications.
  • Ensure grants are set-up correctly in accounting software, so all costs, revenue, and funds are tracked and recognized accurately and appropriately; monitor grant activity and lead grant analysis.
  • Prepare grant draws and financial grant reporting.
  • Stay up to date on relevant laws, regulations, and policies related to grant compliance. Interpret and communicate these requirements and best practices to internal stakeholders.
  • May provide support with other grant-related activities as needed.
  • Performs other duties and projects as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or 5-7 years direct work experience in lieu of a degree required.
  • 2-3 years of experience in grant management required.
  • Experience working in a CDFI or nonprofit environment is desirable.
  • Advanced digital literacy and ability to navigate workplace technology including Microsoft Office suite, administrative and grant management software, databases, and Salesforce.
  • Strong understanding of the grant lifecycle.
  • Excellent research, writing, and editing skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage complex and highly confidential information exercising initiative and sound judgment/decision-making with a solution-oriented focus.
  • Effective analytical and problem-solving ability.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, within tight deadlines in a clear, level-headed manner; ability to turn work around within a short period of time where demands are liable to change quickly effectively, and efficiently.
  • Ability to work well and collaboratively with diverse constituents and interface with employees at all levels of the organization, OFN Members, OFN investors, and funders is required. Comfortable working autonomously and across multiple tasks and reporting to different project working teams.
  • Position involves normal physical requirements for an office position.
  • Minimal travel required (<5% of time).
