Summary

The Senior Solar Credit Analyst will serve as the primary underwriter for Locus’s solar and clean energy lending activities. The position will support the Credit Underwriting Manager with more complex underwriting assignments primarily related to solar financing, as well as some affordable housing and small business lending. The Solar Analyst will have a strong credit background, preferably in clean energy and solar, as well as experience with commercial real estate or small business. The position is responsible for analyzing and assessing risk on various types of transactions, which are largely loans and lines of credit, as well as other innovative capital such as guarantees.

Responsibilities

  • Routinely completes credit analyses on loan transactions of varying sizes and complexities and provides recommendations on the extension of credit.
  • Underwrites loan transactions for Locus Bank, Locus Impact Fund, Locus Capital, and guarantees for the Community Investment Guarantee Pool (CIGP), or other guarantee funds managed by Locus.
  • Spreads, analyzes, and interprets financial statements and other documents.
  • Gathers data and performs due diligence on borrowers, guarantors, and sponsors, and completes financial, economic, market, and industry assessments.
  • Identifies and describes the strengths and risks and mitigants, as well as other pertinent credit issues of respective deals.
  • Completes written analyses including an independent credit assessment with a well-defined risk profile.
  • Prepares credit memorandums for Committee approval and will assist in the presentation of the request.
  • Assists in the development of policies and procedures around Locus’s lending programs.

Requirements

Experience/Education/Certifications

  • 3-5 years of credit underwriting and financial analysis experience required, preferably in the community development field.
  • Experience with financial statement spreading software.
  • Experience underwriting clean energy and solar transactions.
  • Experience with analyzing commercial, small business, and real estate loans.
  • Experience underwriting community development financial institutions a plus.
  • Experience underwriting financial guarantees used to offset risk on various community development transactions a plus.
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and interpersonal skills required.
  • Possess a solid understanding of accounting, financial statement analysis, and loan structuring.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of Locus’s credit policy as well as other internal policies and procedures.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred from a 4-year college or university.

 

Computer/Technology:

  • Excellent Word, Excel, and Windows file management skills mandatory
  • Strong technical experience with Salesforce or other CRM tools
  • Demonstrated web research skills
  • Familiarity with Outlook or similar network-based email and calendar software
  • Extensive computer usage and Microsoft Teams communication
  • Must be able to work independently in a stable remote environment

 

Communication:

  • Ability to communicate verbally across all levels of the organization in a clear, concise and confident manner.
  • Ability to write accurate, clear and organized communications, incorporating a range of information and analysis. Ability to document workflow and procedures.

Compensation and Benefits

  • $92,000 – $95,000 annual salary, depending on skills and experience

For fully remote status, Locus prefers applicants from East Coast states where business relationships have already been established; they include  Virginia, New York, Florida, New Jersey, West Virginia, Georgia, North Carolina, Massachusetts, and Pennsylvania. Considerations may be given to candidates from other established states such as Nebraska, Colorado, Montana, Kansas, Tennessee, and Missouri.
