Founded in 2012, the Center for Impact Finance (CIF) at University of New Hampshire’s Carsey School of Public Policy addresses the role that access to capital plays in turning the tide on widening income inequality and building a more sustainable future for communities. As a respected national thought leader in the community development field, CIF conducts original applied research, designs programs, financing products, projects, and policies that advance financial inclusion, the financial health in low-income communities, and the field of community development finance more broadly. Our strategies include:
- Thought leadership and innovation to ensure that low-income, low-wealth, and other underserved individuals and communities have access to affordable, responsible financial products and services;
- Rigorous, timely, actionable research and policy, designed to create and study financial approaches and tools;
- Professional training that equips community development finance practitioners with practical, high-level skills as well as access to the tools and networks they need to succeed in a rapidly changing ecosystem;
- Convenings of a range of stakeholders to promote discussion and collaborative action that connects capital with institutions and initiatives that address economic and social inequality, minimize the opportunity gap, and strengthens economic, ecological, and community resilience.
Summary
The Center for Impact Finance is seeking a Training Director to manage, grow and promote the growing portfolio of training programs. Key tasks include oversight of curriculum development and course design as well as developing and maintaining relationships with partner organizations and funders.
Responsibilities
Job Duties
- Work with the Center leadership to identify, develop, promote, and carry out a training, and capacity building agenda that responds to the emerging needs of the field of community development and impact finance and advance innovative and impactful practices within it.
- Manage staff as the training function grows, manage consultants and partner relationships.
- Manage training, capacity building, and consulting engagements under the guidance of the principal investigator or as a principal investigator or co-investigator, with responsibilities to support the development of funding sources and grant proposals, manage client and funder relationships, develop and oversee work plans, author reports and publications, and deliver presentations.
- Build relationships with other thought leaders in the field, including funders, investors, practitioners, regulators, and academics, to increase the visibility of the Center, secure resources to support its capacity building and training agenda, and ensure the ongoing relevance of its work to key external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with other faculty and researchers within the Carsey School of Public Policy, including its other research centers, and other faculty and researchers in related fields at the University, on research and other academic initiatives that are of shared importance.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a field relevant to community development finance such as public policy, community development, business, law, or urban planning.
- 10 years’ experience in finance, community development, or related field.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and budgets.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Experience effectively managing multiple projects across different internal and external constituents to drive results.
- Demonstrated expertise and experience in the development and implementation of capacity building and training programs for adults delivered virtually and in person, using best practices and technologies for curriculum development, student engagement, and instruction.
- Record of excellent financial analysis and demonstrated ability to analyze technical and qualitative information, particularly related to community development finance, and to synthesize findings for decision making.
- Record of excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
- Work collaboratively and effectively with co-workers and representatives from the non-profit, corporate, philanthropic, and public sectors, and with a diverse range of individuals and organizations.
- Good organization skills, detail orientation, and the ability to prioritize and multi-task.
- Demonstrated ability to complete tasks in real time in a diversity of team settings.
- Strong research and data analysis skills.
- Commitment to the community development sector and the critical role of nonprofit organizations in driving social change.
- Complete tasks in a fast-paced and self-motivated environment in a timely and efficient manner.
- Experience in Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Experience in Canvas and/or other educational/instructional platforms.
