Want to join a smart, dedicated, diverse team addressing one of the greatest threats to our communities? OFN is looking for a talented individual to serve as our Vice President, Data Collection and Analysis.

The Vice President, Data Collection and Analysis leads OFN’s Research Data Collection and Analysis team. The Vice President is responsible for leading and overseeing data collection projects; managing the Annual Member Survey project and its evolution; accessing and compiling data from third-party data sources; conducting quantitative and qualitative data analyses; producing data visualizations; supervising and developing research staff; collaborating with data teams and staff in other OFN units; producing data deliverables and research products; and contributing to the execution of OFN’s research agenda and projects.

This position is based in Washington, D.C. All staff currently work a hybrid schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of data collectors and research analysts, fostering a culture of excellence and continual improvement.
  • Develop staff skills in data collection and analysis.
  • Collaborate with data staff on cross-functional teams, including close coordination with OFN’s Operations department on systems and solutions for data storage, management, and use.
  • Participate in and contribute to working groups and products related to OFN’s overarching strategy and governance.
  • Lead and oversee collection of original CDFI data via surveys, interviews, and other collection methods.
  • Manage and oversee the Annual Member Survey project, which is OFN’s annual collection of financial, lending activity, staffing, outcomes, and other data elements from members.
  • Design and implement the evolution of the Annual Member Survey project, including advancing data collection methods and products produced with the data.
  • Access and use data from various third-party administrative data sources (e.g., Small Business Administration’s 7(a) and 504 loan level data, de-identified Transaction Level Reports and Annual Certification Reports from the CDFI Fund, and socioeconomic and demographic indicators from the Census).
  • Design, conduct, and oversee quantitative data analyses, including descriptive and multivariate analyses of cross-sectional and longitudinal data.
  • Design, conduct, and oversee qualitative data analyses.
  • Advise on and review data analyses conducted by team members.
  • Develop and implement review and quality assurance processes for quantitative data analysis.
  • Produce data visualizations, such as maps, graphs, and infographics.
  • Contribute to the execution of OFN’s research agenda and projects.
  • Produce research briefs, reports, data deliverables, and other products.
  • Perform other activities as requested by the Senior Vice President, Research.

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or 5-7 years of work experience in lieu of a degree; master’s
  • degree a plus.
  • 3-7 years direct experience collecting and analyzing quantitative data required.
  • 3+ years of demonstrated experience in project management and managing staff.
  • Advanced experience with quantitative analysis software (e.g., Stata, R, Python), data visualization and mapping software (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, ArcGIS), and online survey software (e.g., Qualtrics) is required.
  • Experience with accessing, managing, and analyzing third-party administrative data sources is required.
  • Experience designing and administering online surveys is preferred.
  • Experience producing research and data products is required.
  • Professional experience in community development finance and with nonprofit financial statements is highly beneficial.
  • A strong passion for, understanding of, and commitment to OFN’s mission, vision, and values; familiarity with the CDFI industry strongly preferred where one can be a fearless advocate, who is confident and resilient in OFN’s fight to drive capital into low-income communities.
  • A collaborative team player who possesses good interpersonal skills to work across all levels of the organization, humility, and a willingness to learn in all areas of our work.
  • Smart, quick seeker of knowledge with the ability to think strategically, creatively, and tactically to analyze results and serve as an adaptable problem-solver.
  • Digital literacy with advanced Stata, R, Python, or other quantitative data analysis software is required.
  • Strong organizational skills, patience, and attention to detail required.
  • Superior interpersonal skills and ability to work well with diverse constituents is required.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and balance the demands of working on multiple tasks simultaneously independently and in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to community development is highly beneficial.
  • Limited travel required <10%.
  • No extraordinary physical requirements beyond the ability to travel.
  • Job involves normal physical requirements for an office position.
